The mission of the HAX Foundation is to raise funds to help scholarship underprivileged student athletes into sports and education academies at HAX. By Engaging in the community and embracing today’s youth we can help to create tomorrow’s leaders today at HAX.
HAX is a world class state of the art sports and training center focusing on the development of today’s youth both athletically and educationally. The HAX Foundation was created to help raise funds to scholarship underprivileged student athletes into sports and education academies at HAX. Our focus at HAX is to help create opportunities for student athletes to excel both on and off the court. So many of today’s kids are not able to take advantage of the programs available to them in the community due to financial hardships. At HAX we not only have the programs but we have the Foundation that cares about the student athletes. The programs include The HAX Basketball Academy available to boys and girls ages 6-18, The Sinjin Smith Volleyball Academy available to boys & girls ages 6-18 and Scholar Baller a mentoring program which is endorsed by the NCAA and helps mentor student athletes and bridges the gap between education and sports.
In these tough economic times it is becoming increasingly difficult for parents to find affordable after school programs for their children. The effects ripple through homes and communities making an already trying situation worse. To make matters worse, we, in southern California are seeing record cuts to the education system. Often times the first programs to get cut are physical education and college preparatory classes. This combination leads to middle school and high school children left at home unsupervised. At home children are often sedentary, leading to potential obesity and other avoidable complications. Some children resort to gangs and other social groups that lead them down the path of potential self destruction. Many middle school students enter high school without a solid plan to get to college and many high school students are ill advised on which courses to take to prepare them for college. Many students can go years without being identified as “in need” and are ill equipped to self- evaluate. The contributions we receive in the HAX foundation are used to help combat many of the above issues.
Due to generous donations from private citizens and corporate sponsors such as McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Power Balance, Golden State Foods and ESPN Zone LA Live, HAX has provided scholarships to over 100 student athletes in its first year of existence. These kids range in age from 8 years old to 18 years old and all reside in the Los Angeles Community.
“ I would like to express my gratitude for the generosity of HAX for my son and family. It has been very difficult for me to financially support my family as a single mother, however The HAX Foundation has afforded us this great opportunity and we are forever thankful.”
